It’s only been a few years or so…

How many of these posts am I going to do apologizing that I haven’t blogged in a while? I mean honestly, does it really take me that long to just come on here and write something interesting about witchcraft? Oh right, apparently it does, years in fact.

Too much work to do

Too much work to do

My life has taken quite a turn in the last year. I have over-loaded myself with work and have lost myself along the way. My entire personality has changed… stress and lack of sleep can REALLY mess with you. I pretty much demanded a vacation from all of my jobs..yes that’s jobs, plural. That is how crazy I am, I believe I have 4. I’m a graphic designer/photographer so it’s difficult to nail down what I consider a “job” when I just freelance a lot. The money is good, but is it really worth it? Now that I’m on vacation, I’m realizing…not really. I enjoy my work, don’t get me wrong…but I’m so inside my head, I need that time to work through my issues. If I do not have this time, I’m not so much fun to be around. My co-workers found that out. Woops. So what does this have to do with the craft? I realized that this life I have right now, I asked for… I used magick for years to get me to the spot I’m in right now. I’m so thankful and truly am happy to be where I am, but as Rumpelstiltskin always says in Once Upon a Time “Magick always comes with a price.” The cost was not having the time to spend learning more and using the craft. I’ve done a few things here and there with surprising success. Hopefully I’ll dedicate more blogs on these items. I’ve grown a lot over the years and rely heavily on my instincts, it has served me well and is always my advice when people come to me for help.

I really need to refocus my life, and part of that will be dedicating more time to this blog. I like writing and enjoy the interaction with all of you. This blog used to get fairly good traction, so hopefully I can get back to it. My Latin is still not grammatically correct, but I plan on doing more with it soon. Which brings me to an interesting memory. When I was younger, it had to be like 13 or so, I did a spell to help one of my friends be brave enough to tell his father something. I can’t remember at all what he wanted to tell him, but I wanted to help. We made a large bonfire and I did something interesting. Granted I had NO idea, just went on instinct. This has no research to back it up, but it worked nearly instantly. I can’t remember the words, but I’m going to wing it and hope that it will work the same with a bit of Latin for an extra kick.

Spell of Bravery

Ingredients:

Recently walked on grass

Large Fire

A bit of the person’s hair

The Spell:

Take a bit of grass that the person has just walked on and then grab a piece of their hair. Hold the two items together in your hand and stare into the fire, use the warmth to charge them. Make sure you and the person are close to the flames. Throw theĀ items in the fire and say this spell.

Flames of strength make him/her see

And grant the gift of bravery

Fortem
(four-tem)

The flame should instantly send the energy into the person.

The person I cast the spell on had no idea what I was doing, and that may be the key to this spell. I was making a joke like “I need a piece of your hair” and I remember just grabbing it. He didn’t hear me say the words into the fire either. It was a big fire and we were on opposite sides. After the spell I asked him if he was going to tell his father, whatever he was afraid to before, and he pretty much changed his mind and was going to. I was shocked how quickly the spell worked to be honest. It’s a little cheesy, but hey, whatever works right? Try it out and let me know!

It’s time for me to end this blog, I’ll be back… I don’t know when, but I will. As always…

sweet serenity,

Derek….
