Hello Everyone!

I did a spell that someone gave me about 6 months ago that required me to prick myself 3 times and add blood to an elixir. I KNEW this was going to be the most difficult part. The spell called for a dove’s feather, you’d think that would be difficult….but not as difficult as getting blood out of my body! I’m such a wimp when it comes to this stuff. I took a knife and just started poking myself. I got some blood to come out of the palm of my hand, but not enough to drip. I even pushed real hard against the skin of my forearm. All it did was leave a small red dot behind. Did I develop some kind of super powers where my skin is impenetrable? Maybe I’m anemic and don’t have a whole lot of blood flow? I thought to myself….how in the hell do witches do this?! I didn’t want to risk hurting myself badly so, I figured I would look it up…

blood dropletMy first stop was to see if there were any videos on Youtube, a modern day witches tutorial… I couldn’t find any. I think too many of us are old school. Then I came across a diabetic, and BINGO. I should have realized this before. They need to prick themselves daily to test their blood. They have a handy tool to do this, so we would need a needle or something just as sharp. I learned to not poke the tip of your finger, or the pad like you see on TV. I’m lookin’ at you Charmed! The trick is to prick your finger on the side of the tip, just to the right or left of your nail. Once you break the skin, you need to apply pressure to the base of your finger and push upward. This should give you plenty of blood drops.

Why did I need this you ask? What exactly is blood binding? This type of magick has been used by traditional witches for centuries. Blood is your life’s essence, the ultimate personal effect. Adding your blood to certain spells will bind you directly to the spell itself. There is one small caveat, you will ultimately bind yourself to the spell for as long as the spell is active. If you use this for the wrong types of spells, or mess up on a spell, you will be bound to it. Example? Casting a love spell and using incorrect ingredients, attracting someone you do not want. You will be bound to this person until you break the spell…but that is easier said than done. Breaking a love spell is difficult enough without the use of blood binding. Do your research, trust your instincts and please, do not cast love spells without the proper knowledge or intent.

The use of blood binding is taboo in some covens, mostly due to the dangers I just mentioned. All magick is dangerous, it is purely about intent and power. How much power you need, and if your intent is pure. I would and have only used blood in specific situations, and with the spell I did tonight, my body is still tingling. You can use blood binding to bind your essence to items like protection amulets or charms, this will bind the charm directly to you and can easier grant yourself protection, however, lets say you lose that charm or give it to someone else, you will be bound to whomever has the charm or amulet. Therein lies the danger of blood binding. I know I’ve said this a bunch, but use caution!

So again, I do not recommend using blood binding unless your spell completely requires it.

–ANOTHER WARNING–

In this day and age, there are a lot of blood diseases, the most obvious is HIV. Make sure that if you are using/ingesting blood, that it is your own. Following what I said above should protect you magickally, but following what I’m saying now should protect you medically.

I will not be giving any spells that involve blood magick, as I do not know your experience or intent, I just would not want to risk it. I apologize. I may come up with one to charge a protection amulet. I will have to decide later, but I will be updating my blog with more spells very soon, thank you for reading! Make sure to comment so I can know your thoughts on this blog and blood binding in general.

Greetings!

No, I am not going to enter into a long inspiring speech here guys, I am just going to tell you about a dream I had and the research that followed. I never know if my dreams are prophetic, procogniscent (that’s totally not a word but I’m making it one, pertaining to dreaming about the past) or just my mind’s fun way of telling me that I might be crazy. Between you and I though, I totally am, just don’t tell my mind that! This dream though, really stuck out to me.

The Crone from Charmed to illustrate what I saw

The only thing I can remember is lying down on a bed and an old woman was at the foot looking at me, rubbing my feet and getting me to tell her things that I didn’t want to tell her. I didn’t feel in danger though, it was almost like my inner voice was saying “You bitch, I can’t believe you’re making me say this.” She wasn’t evil, just beating me at my own game….

WITCHCRAFT!

Damn crones, always with the wise woman bullshit…….anyway.

All I kept thinking is she had to be using Hot Foot Powder, but it wasn’t just Hot Foot, it had to be mixed with something else. Hot Foot Powder for those who don’t know, is a hoodoo powder used to get those who cross it in their tracks to leave permanently. The idea behind the powder didn’t explain how she was controlling what I was saying, or why I was answering her questions so honestly.

The point of the dream was not in the answers as I don’t remember anything that was said. All I kept shouting in my head was “Hot Foot Powder, but not” over and over again. So this got me to thinking, what if I could spin an old Hot Foot recipe into a commanding powder that would only work by placing it directly onto the feet. I’m not sure who would use this as there might be easier ways to get truthful answers….but it made sense. What if you had a partner who you were wondering if they were faithful or not. You could offer them a foot rub and say you got this spicy new oil to use. The Hot Foot portion would bring the tingle aspect (main herbs being cayenne or red pepper) but the secret ingredients would compel them to say whatever you want them to say.

I dove into research mode. I looked into Hoodoo recipes and traditional witchcraft recipes and I believe I found my answer! I am going to disappoint a few of you readers here as I cannot give you my recipe. I just feel that if I am correct, this powder, if recreated by the wrong person, can do some heavy damage and I don’t want it so easily accessible. I will say this though, once I get my store up and running, I may sell it. If anyone wants to purchase it directly, just Email Me.

In my research I did read that the herb Patchouli is quite unique. Most use it for money or love drawing and even jinx breaking. I learned however, that the herb will take the essence of those around it. What does this mean for the Hot Foot Compelling Powder? Patchouli has a natural drawing power, hate the smell or love it, it will ALWAYS bring you to it….but, if the herb is mixed with other herbs of a darker nature, it will develop a dark nature as well.

Patchouli

Patchouli – more than just for hippie detection

My thought process is, the dark drawing essence that will be given to Patchouli will draw out the truth from the person, it will compel them to say what you want to hear regarding matters of the heart. Also noted, it should mask the sulphur scent of the Hot Foot Powder…you’re welcome. I added other items and took away some that would not work with this mixture and have come up with what I feel strongly will work. This powder could be sprinkled in the person’s shoes or socks, you’ll know it’s working if they appear slightly uncomfortable. The nature of the powder is not to harm the person just throw them off their game. The powder can also be mixed with a little oil if you use the foot rubbing method I spoke of before. I need to try this, I just don’t actually have a reason to. I’ll keep you posted as always!

–A QUICK WARNING–

This powder is designed to compel the target to tell you exactly what you want to hear and there is a downside. If you focus too much on what you THINK the answer is, that is what you will hear….and it may not be the truth. A spell like this required extreme focus and should only be used if you are experienced. I cannot stress this enough. So if you purchase this from me, or do research and make something similar just use caution. Focus on the truth coming out of the target, not any specific words. I would practice this technique before using the powder.

If anyone is interested in Hot Foot Powder, I can make that too, but Lucky Mojo also has it and they seem to be a trusted source. I will also include the recipe’s for it. There are a few variances.

Latin Protection Chant

protection pentagramLatin Protection Chant

I wanted to make a quick and easy protection chant if you needed a small boost to your defenses. This spell uses your guiding spirit as a psychic shield and would be used in specific instances. This spell will not last and should not be abused.

Ingredients:

White Candle
Saltpeter
Salt

The Spell:

While the candle is in front of you, light it and say

Spiritus Ducentia Protego Me
(spee-ree-two-s | due-ken-tea-ah | pro-teg-oh | meh)

Once the candle is lit, sprinkle your salt and saltpeter mixture over the flame and say three times

Protego Me
(pro-teg-oh | meh)

Visualize your guardian spirit surrounding you with energy shielding you from harm then blow out the candle. You can use this same candle anytime you need a boost, just repeat the spell. I have created a video to go along with this spell to show you how it’s done.

Let me know what you think and if it helps you. Also if you like the video feel free to tell me in the comments here or on Youtube! Talk to you soon everyone.

**Edit**

It has been said to me that I used the wrong form of Protect. Since I call the guardian spirit to protect, the Latin word “protegito” would be the proper form. It does make a lot of sense, since “protego” would be if you were protecting yourself, which could also work as you can just channel the guardian’s power. Either switch your focus, or switch the word!

Hi There

Been months since you’ve heard from me? My bad. I don’t know what it is, I’m just a little too lazy when it comes to actually blogging. Sorry! You know when you go to youtube, then realize it’s tomorrow? …anyway, lets continue!

Mandrake9 Mandrake

Well Harry Potter had some if it correct. I kind of love when fantasy books base their ideas on real history. In ancient Europe it was said that the man like root would scream once pulled and kill the harvester. This of course is just a story as I firmly believe it would be impossible. Yes I know, a skeptical witch. I believe in ghosts, fairies and that I got my friend pregnant with a potion…but not a deadly scream from a plant.

Peters, Hermann.

Ebling Library call number RS 61 P48

In its earlier days, the plant was used as a sedative and a pain killer…but a killer it was. Ingest too much and the plant would be fatal. Mandrake, being in the atropa genus and nightshade family, is highly poisonous. Does atropa and nightshade look familiar? Any herbal loving, potion making witch should know it instantly. Yes, mandrake is related to Atropa Belladonna, or Deadly Nightshade (one of my favorites). Another amazing sedative that will instantly kill you if you use too much. Oh the amazing sleeping potion I could make…*cough* don’t do it, I don’t recommend it at all! (though it totally works)

Through my studies I’ve seen a LOT of spells for love using mandrake, probably due to it’s “human-like” nature. I guess if you squint, they kind of look like human bodies. I’ve of course have never pulled one from the Earth, but hey maybe. The beauty behind this herb is its attractive and repellent nature. How is this possible you ask? Mandrake is a wonderful catalyst, it just depends on what you put with it. You can use it to attract love, attract wealth and good fortune, or you can use it to repel evil or attacks, be them magickal or physical.

Try adding the root to your conjure bags or powders and see if it gives it the extra boost you need. I know I use mine all the time. I have a very special money charm I use that works very well. Mandrake is the key ingredient in this, aided by cinnamon and bay. If you have had luck with mandrake, let me know in the comments what you’ve done with it, I’d love to hear about it!

Alright my magickal friends, I hope to see you soon. I’ll try to find more ideas to blog about and hope you enjoy them!

Hello Readers!

Today’s blog is about inspiration. I recently started writing a book and needed a quick break, so I came here to blog about what I’m doing. Magick ALWAYS inspires me. Everything I do has magick behind it, being helping people, writing, or just living life. Does magick inspire you at all? If so tell me how! Whenever I write stories I will always have some mystical aspect to it. I want my characters to feel real in unreal situations. Is it possible…scientifically possible to control fire with just a look from your eye? Well a few people out there will say yes, and damn it, i’d like to see that, but no, I don’t believe it is. Also, those out there who claim that can, can you teach me? haha ANYWAY.

I feel the more we put magick or witchcraft out into the world, it will be more accepted. If not accepted than at least tolerated. No one should be treated less than because of a faith they have, especially one that doesn’t conflict with everyday life. We aren’t some lunatic religious group telling people that if you let gay people get married then next people will want to marry a goat. You know, i kind of doubt that would happen, but hey, if that is your argument so be it.

What I do is not let people ruin my specific faith in the energies around us. I wouldn’t feel the way I do, or dream the way I do if what I believe was wrong. There is a power inside me, a power I use often. I’m in touch with the energies that surround me and am slowly learning how to use them properly. I believe the best way to get inspiration is to use the elements. Your strongest would be of course the element in which you were born under. As a child of water, listening to the ocean always inspires me. Don’t live next to an ocean or body of water? I understand! Well kind of, i’ve always lived next to lakes, ponds or now the ocean. I will say this, I know it sounds weird, but I get inspiration also in the shower. I let the water devour my being and let my mind wander. Standing there naked as the stream of water flows down my head covering my body, ideas quickly flock to my brain. Have an artistic block? Take a shower, let the water cleanse and break that block. Even if you aren’t born under the water sign, trust me, it works.

Next is fire. I love a good bonfire, always gets the juices flowing. This is great for a gathering, a meeting of a coven, or just plain fun. Grab your sacred herbs to burn. A good inspiration attracting mixture is anise seed, bay leaves and orange zest (ground orange rind). As they burn, you will feel the energy flow into you. Staring into the fire can also induce a meditative trance and let you see things that normally may not be seen, which will also inspire you. You don’t have to do this at a bonfire of course, you can use a candle. I suggest an orange candle, but a white one will work just fine. You can burn the herbs as incense while staring into the flame of the candle. This is sure to spark whatever creative flow you need.

Earth is an amazing grounding element that you can use to tap into the energies of the earth. Using a grounding ritual is always best. If you can’t do it outside, that is fine, everything is connected. It will just take more focus. The best way is to sit outside and dig your hands directly into the ground, calming yourself and focusing on the energies within flowing through you. Become one with the earth. If you are inside, light a brown candle to help you focus. place your hands on the floor and again, tap into the earth energies from beneath you. It doesn’t matter what floor you may be on, i’m on the second and have done this. Feel your hands reach through the floor into the ground below. Meditate on this energy gaining exercise and you should be inspired in no time. Another fun way is to dig your hands into dirt, I’m sure you have a houseplant somewhere. Just reach in and feel the energy from the plant and the dirt itself. Be one with nature.

Finally we have Air. Go outside, feel the gentle breeze flow into you, let it engulf you in its wonder. Open a window, and sit next to it, breathe in the air deeply and embrace it’s power. What if there isn’t any wind? Get a fan! Best way to get air is to make it. Let the soft hum of a fan lull you into a meditative trance as the air takes over your body. The element of Air is one of the best for drawing inspiration. Those born under the element of Air are usually stuck in their own minds, it’s always flowing freely. Embrace that, let every single thought run through your mind. Piece them together, let your mind take you on the journey. If there is wind, and you have a dying dandelion, blow the seeds from the dandelion and as you watch them float away, ask the winds to bring you inspiration.

I hope this blog inspired you. Don’t forget to comment and leave feedback! Talk to you soon everyone! Terra – Aeris – Ignis – Aqua – Elementa ego vocare!

Hey Witches!

Ok, so you made it past valentine’s day… Thank the Gods. I had a pretty good day, I spent it with someone I care very much for, unfortunately this person can never truly love me (equipment difference issues). BUT IT’S OK!! ..mostly. Anyway… in lieu of valentine’s day…the love-liest day of the year, I’m going to give a couple new love spells. These are different though. Sometimes I like to think if I were a witch of the past, what kind of spells would I create.

Thinking back in the old ways when there weren’t rules or consequences, people used their resources to the fullest, sometimes with no remorse whatsoever. I will say again that these spells aren’t meant to actually be cast, I’m sure someone still will…but please… I don’t condone control spells. I don’t feel you should force love, it won’t feel right. This is for pure educational and entertainment purposes! I took these from my soon (hopefully soon) to be released digital grimoire, or printed grimoire…oh who the hell knows. This will be in the Darker Spells section.

Be mine love potion

So this is my version of a Love Potion for control magick. Obviously this potion is designed to turn a lover to you, no matter how they feel. I don’t believe in this sort of magick…I know I’ve said this too many times, but I want to make sure that…well I think it’s wrong. Is it possible? yes, but it shouldn’t be used. Every powerful spell like this needs a catalyst, something to bind the energies together. This is why I used witch’s fingernails. The fingernail would hold the same mystic energy the witch does, so even if you aren’t a witch, you could get the nails of one to use in the potion and still be able to use it. Everyone has magick within them, it’s all about learning how to use it.

Next we have one of the darkest spells I’ve ever written. I pictured myself as an old witch living in a hut in the woods, and a desperate person came to me, begging me for a love spell to bewitch the person they desire. I caution them against it as it isn’t true love that will come of it…but they don’t care and throw money on the table.

I go to the back of the room to a bird cage and gently remove one of the pure white doves. Holding it in my arms I wave my hand over it’s head and say a prayer. From my belt i slowly slide out my ritual knife and quickly jab it directly into the bird’s heart. I take it over to a vial and drain the blood into it. Grabbing my quill I dip it into the blood, I write down the incantation for my client to speak.

Forever Love Spell page by Derek Tovar

I wonder if spells like these would still be cast to this day. I sure hope not. This to me seems like one of those spells that would take a powerful witch to break, and it would take such greed, pain and an evil heart to use such a spell… I’m actually kind of shaken that I wrote it haha. My friend wanted a scary spell for his prop book on Halloween, so I came up with this.

Let me know what you guys think!! Again, do not use these ok? please? …thank you 🙂

Derek….

Banishment – I Cast Thee Away

Hello to all my fellow conjure folk!

My next blog, as promised, is on Banishment. In a previous blog I spoke of contacting the other side being dangerous because anything can come through the portal you open and attach itself to you. So I wanted to update with a few ways to banish evil or malevolent spirits away.

First I wanted to state a spell written in Latin to banish a spirit. Make sure to wear a protection amulet when trying any type of banishment spell. A silver pentagram, a charged tiger’s eye, or for those born under the moon, a moonstone. Stand strong, you have to show your dominance, this is your space, not theirs. Cast a protective circle around you, draw in energy and surround yourself with pure white light. Ready? Alright, here we go.

which roughly translates to..

Now I command and charge you, O evil spirit! That you immediately depart from the circle, abstaining from all noise, terror, tumult, and stench, and if you refuse I will damn you both in body and soul. And abstain from harming any creature or thing, and depart immediately to the place which justice has appointed for you. Depart from my sight and flee from here.

So now you may ask yourself…I don’t know how to speak latin, what am I going to do? There has been a debate about this over many chat rooms and forums i’ve come across. One side says Latin was the first spoken language of magick so it holds more power, others say “if you don’t know what you’re saying, how will it hold power”. Here’s my thoughts, when you speak these words, there is this vibration you feel inside you. I feel the words hold such power, but you must understand the meaning. You should not cast a spell in Latin unless you understand it completely!

I also found a screenshot of the Charmed Book of Shadows, just something fun to throw in here. The spell itself doesn’t seem to have any trace of actual witchcraft, the ingredients don’t scream out “banishment” to me, and it would be difficult to pour the mixture over the ghost’s bones, especially if you don’t know who the ghost is. You can also click the picture to see the larger version so you can physically read it. I’ve said before that I love charmed, it’s a fun escape into a fictional world of witches. I just wish it was more deep rooted in actual witchcraft. Still a good show to watch though! The only downfall is it sparked a lot of “interest” in witchcraft for all the wrong reasons, but hopefully a few of you out there who got involved with witchcraft because of charmed actually study and learn actual traditions, and not what I call “poof” magick. If only I could point and shoot…Sabrina the teenage witch anyone? …oh yea

Ok, back to a serious note. These next few items are taken from a nice book written by Gerina Dunwich called “A Witch’s Guide to Ghosts and the Supernatural“. Some really good information on spirits, conjure and banishment.

Protection Mojo

This is from a traditional Hoodoo practitioner to guard against evil spirits. It is said to carry a white or blue mojo, or charm bag filled with fennel seeds, dried beans, Blue Mojo Bagdevil pods (these can be found at any hoodoo/voodoo dealer and online, sometimes referred to as “bat nut” or “goat head”), mistletoe, or the roots belonging to any of the following plants: angelica, devil’s shoestring, orris, or peony. It also says to keep the power strong, anoint the mojo every other day with three drops of angelica or Saint John’s Wort essential oils. Those two plants are said to ward off evil spirits in the Hoodoo tradition.

Protection Amulets

As stated before there are a few amulets to protect against evil spirits, I will list a few of them here.

Silver Pentagram

The pentagram is a long standing traditional protective amulet in the witch community, these should always be kept around. Making it silver protects against malevolent spirits.

Silver Cross

The silver cross has been dubbed one of the oldest of amulets belonging to Europe Pagans and Western Chinese cultures. The amulet was used to ward off evil spirits and demons. Christians adapted the symbol in the 4th century.

Amber

Said to be the most powerful of all the natural amulets (created by Mother Nature). One of its many powers is to protect against evil spirits. If you need a catch-all protection amulet, this would be the best of the three.

If you are interested in the pendants, each picture leads to the amazon.com link to purchase.

Black Salt

Black ritual salt is widely used to repel negative energy. Some say that if any person walks upon black salt you have scattered on the ground, they will feel uneasy and will want to leave the area immediately. Using the Black Salt in a spirit banish ritual would give it just a little extra oomph. Black salt is also used to remove jinxes. I have personally used it to stop gossip, it was the catalyst to banish the negative energy. Worked like a charm (ba dum chhhhhhh). I have found a lot of stores online just dye table salt black and POOF you have black salt…tsk tsk lazy witches…Black salt is made from the scrapings from the bottom of your cauldron mixed with salt. The cauldron should have some charred herbs or charcoal, maybe some iron scrapings will come off, so mixing that with salt, is what makes it black. I would hope that ritual stores make this correctly, but you really have to make sure before you purchase. Once my online store is up, I will be selling authentic black salt, I have a good amount already but I need to scrape my cauldron a little more.

Finally I wanted to end with another banishment spell. There is an old Latin saying for banishing someone, roughly translates to forbidding them from fire and water. I figured I could spin this into a spell to banish someone you do not want around you. Now, I would use this wisely. With enough power this spell could banish this person from being around you for a very long time. All you will need is some black salt, good thing I just told you about it right? I know, I’m so nice and organized. Also, if you can, it’d be good to get a picture of the person or something of theirs you can focus your energy on. Casting this spell on something like a necklace or ring they would wear would give it extra power.

Lay the item on your altar and prepare yourself for the spell. Focus all your energy on the item, and focus that person leaving you alone. Picture that person in front of you, then just walking away. Take some of the black salt and start throwing it on the item while saying:

aqua et igni interdicere homini

(ah-kwa eht eeg-knee in-tare-dee-chair-eh oh-mee-knee)

Repeat the spell as you throw more black salt onto the item. Once you feel you have charged the item enough, the spell is done. If you used a picture, burn it and throw the ashes off of your property, in flowing water would be great. If you used an item, give it back to them. Every time they are around you they should feel this urge to not be there. Let me know if someone tries this, I would love feedback.

Well everyone, this was a LONG post, so I hope you were able to get through it. Sorry it took me so long to post. I will try to think of more exciting informative blogs to post. Happy Casting!

sweet serenity,

Derek….

Ok I need to write this… A lot of people have come to the blog previous to this called “the witch itch” because they searched for “spells to make someone itch“. This disturbs me… Everyone has a right to practice the way they want to practice, but it just bothers me that those are the search terms that bring people to my blog. I wrote this to blog to document my ways in the craft, to teach, and to learn. Not to teach people how to use torturous dark magick. Could I create a spell like that? of course. Would I? no. If someone deserves any type of dark magick sent to them for causing pain themselves, I understand that, but a curse to make someone itch just sounds like some young kid thinking it would be funny. So if you are searching for that, please rethink your actions. Magick is not used to “have fun” or to “see what you can do”. Magick is a special, personal gift used to aid in your life.

If you are looking for an itch spell, please look elsewhere…but, if you are looking to learn the craft..the REAL craft, follow my blog and I will try to help you stray away from what the media, or television/movies makes you think witchcraft is.

I’m sorry to rant, but I was just really upset. My banishment blog will be coming shortly, i have lots of information to share!!

happy casting

sweet serenity,

Derek…

Greetings all!

A friend of mind and I were talking and it started up an idea for a new blog. I was explaining to her that there really isn’t white or black magick, it all falls into the intent of the witch. If you really observe certain people you can kind of tell what energy they give off, well if you’re a witch anyway. There is always a balance to life, without evil there cannot be good, without dark there cannot be light. So the question remains, where do you fall?

Light/Dark Cross

I created this cross image to illustrate the different energies one relates to. The full theory can be found in "Nocturnal Witchcraft" by Konstantinos. Interesting book for those who find themselves in the darker side of the cross, but let me explain.

As you can see, the center beam has Light at the top and Dark at the bottom. Each of us follow one of these energy alignments. You might ask though, where does the good and evil come in when light and dark says it all? Great question, but wrong thinking! Looking at the horizontal beam, you can see Evil on the left and Good on the right. the reason for the cross structure is to use a sort of grid in order to “plot” our magickal path. See what I did there? I used a math term as a double entendre…NERD! (awesome nerd) …ANYWAY, looking at the circle behind the cross helps illustrate the meanings behind each of the four corners.

Now we see there is more than just light and dark, and more than just good and evil. The four paths are:

Light/GoodLight/EvilDark/GoodDark/Evil

If you really pay attention to people, you will start to see the differences. Personally I am Dark/Good. I do not wish harm onto anyone unless said person brings harm to them-self. I enjoy night as opposed to day, I have a dry sense of humor, I curse those that wrong me, this is my dark side. My light side brings my ability to heal people, I have strong compassion for living beings, I have a big heart, and I help anyone who asks, within reason of course.

If you are a little confused, let me try to nudge you into the right direction, try to have you understand how to spot the different paths. Lets take for instance Kristin Chenoweth, Glinda from Wicked (amazing btw). Just looking at her, hearing her talk…all you have to do is look into her eyes and this beam of light shoots out. You can feel her heart, and you can see there is NOTHING dark or evil about that woman. Her path would be Light/Good. Another example would be Agelina Jolie. This one should be a little easier to understand, especially when she used to wear blood around her neck. Girl is freaky, but is she evil? Not even the slightest. You can tell that she has darkness within her, but she has this amazing good side to her. Just in her smile alone you should be able to feel this warm energy. Let alone all her work over seas. She is a wonderful, yet dark person. Did that help? I hope it did.

But what about the other side? Dark/Evil is kind of obvious, but what is Light/Evil. Great question! You are so smart. Light/Evil is quite complicated and is rare. These people use the guise of lightness to either do evil things, or get people to do evil things. They prey on those not educated to what I’m explaining here. “Well if she follows the light, she can’t be evil”. I feel pretty, oh so prettyIf only that were true. Konstantinos uses a great example in his book. He speaks of religious extremists, like those behind “God Hates Fags”. What was her name? The really ugly woman with the horrible hair…AH Shirley Phelps-Roper…that’s the bitch’s name. So she’s a great example, she uses her religion as a means to attack and hurt people. She scares people into thinking that their God is this horrible, spiteful, vengeful being who will destroy their soul if they don’t believe the “correct” things. Even if I were christian, there is no way I’d believe that. Thankfully, the Goddess, or natural energy being wants only balance in the world.

Random example, did anyone see the Charmed where darkness/evil was banished from the world, and Phoebe got shot because she blocked her neighbor in her driveway? That, right there…perfect example of the balance of good and evil and how we need it to survive. Thank you charmed, you messed up a lot about witchcraft (though i still love you), but at least ya got some things right!

I think i’m going to end it here, I didn’t even realize how long it was, don’t want to bore you readers to death! Thank you again for your continued support though this, any questions and comments are appreciated. I still haven’t gotten that book on traditional witchcraft I ordered, but once I do, i’ll make sure to blog about it!

Greetings All!

SO it’s time for a new blog. I’ve been trying to find good websites or books on actual traditional witchcraft. Who would have thought it would be so difficult? Traditional witchcraft is a very secretive organization, which is great…but…also extremely difficult to keep going. I wasn’t blessed with any craft traditions being passed down in my family. The only gifts in my family tree are the gifts of intuition and self awareness.

A lot of websites I have come across boast about “traditional witchcraft”, “the old ways” or “not fluffy”; however if you REALLY look through it, and look at the teachings or spells, it really just seems like wiccans who wear a lot of black and try to be cooler than the other wiccans. To each their own, I don’t mind. I respect the wiccan religion and all who study the craft, but if you want to claim  yourself as a traditional witch, you must understand the differences. I will explain a major one.

Grimoire vs Book of Shadows

This is one I didn’t even find out until recently. I know…great research I must have done. Wiccans use the “Book of Shadows” as the holder of their rituals, spells and information for the craft in which they practice. As seen in the image to the right, this is one of the first Book of Shadows written by Gerald Gardner, the founder of Wicca. There are many similarities to the two books. Which is why I feel I never truly knew the difference. Throughout my journey of self tradition, I used the two words for the sacred books interchangeably. In fact, my personal book has Book of Shadows, and my first website about witchcraft has grimoire…hmm.

The Grimoire, from my understanding, is more like a family’s traditions in the form of instruction. So when the tradition is being passed down, this book would be given as a manual to the craft. Though each tradition in the “old ways” is quite different. It generally depended on the family. The word Grimoire is said to be a generalized term of the book also, I read that the real name of these books remained secret. Some families even kept instruction in one book, and spells in another. The idea of the Grimoire also reminds me of The Secret Circle. In the books/tv show each family had a specific book, often written in “code” so only those in the family could decipher it. In the show they call it a Book of Shadows, however if the writer did more research it would have been obvious that it was more of a grimoire.

As I learn more about the craft, I will uncover more secrets and differences and post them here. I’m thinking about acquiring the book The Witching Way of Hollow Hill From my research, this seems to be a book that focuses more on traditional craft. It’s not a heavily printed book so that makes me trust it a bit more. If I acquire it I will blog about it. Are there any other traditional craft books that could be recommended? I appreciate the input. I just pray that one day I could find someone to help me along the path. If not, I’m ok being solitary, easier to keep secrets if no one knows about you right? I will end this blog now and hope I have given some insight. More to come, i promise…
