Being Gone – Spell of Bravery

It’s only been a few years or so…

How many of these posts am I going to do apologizing that I haven’t blogged in a while? I mean honestly, does it really take me that long to just come on here and write something interesting about witchcraft? Oh right, apparently it does, years in fact.

Too much work to do

Too much work to do

My life has taken quite a turn in the last year. I have over-loaded myself with work and have lost myself along the way. My entire personality has changed… stress and lack of sleep can REALLY mess with you. I pretty much demanded a vacation from all of my jobs..yes that’s jobs, plural. That is how crazy I am, I believe I have 4. I’m a graphic designer/photographer so it’s difficult to nail down what I consider a “job” when I just freelance a lot. The money is good, but is it really worth it? Now that I’m on vacation, I’m realizing…not really. I enjoy my work, don’t get me wrong…but I’m so inside my head, I need that time to work through my issues. If I do not have this time, I’m not so much fun to be around. My co-workers found that out. Woops. So what does this have to do with the craft? I realized that this life I have right now, I asked for… I used magick for years to get me to the spot I’m in right now. I’m so thankful and truly am happy to be where I am, but as Rumpelstiltskin always says in Once Upon a Time “Magick always comes with a price.” The cost was not having the time to spend learning more and using the craft. I’ve done a few things here and there with surprising success. Hopefully I’ll dedicate more blogs on these items. I’ve grown a lot over the years and rely heavily on my instincts, it has served me well and is always my advice when people come to me for help.

I really need to refocus my life, and part of that will be dedicating more time to this blog. I like writing and enjoy the interaction with all of you. This blog used to get fairly good traction, so hopefully I can get back to it. My Latin is still not grammatically correct, but I plan on doing more with it soon. Which brings me to an interesting memory. When I was younger, it had to be like 13 or so, I did a spell to help one of my friends be brave enough to tell his father something. I can’t remember at all what he wanted to tell him, but I wanted to help. We made a large bonfire and I did something interesting. Granted I had NO idea, just went on instinct. This has no research to back it up, but it worked nearly instantly. I can’t remember the words, but I’m going to wing it and hope that it will work the same with a bit of Latin for an extra kick.

Spell of Bravery

Ingredients:

Recently walked on grass

Large Fire

A bit of the person’s hair

The Spell:

Take a bit of grass that the person has just walked on and then grab a piece of their hair. Hold the two items together in your hand and stare into the fire, use the warmth to charge them. Make sure you and the person are close to the flames. Throw theĀ items in the fire and say this spell.

Flames of strength make him/her see

And grant the gift of bravery

Fortem
(four-tem)

The flame should instantly send the energy into the person.

——

The person I cast the spell on had no idea what I was doing, and that may be the key to this spell. I was making a joke like “I need a piece of your hair” and I remember just grabbing it. He didn’t hear me say the words into the fire either. It was a big fire and we were on opposite sides. After the spell I asked him if he was going to tell his father, whatever he was afraid to before, and he pretty much changed his mind and was going to. I was shocked how quickly the spell worked to be honest. It’s a little cheesy, but hey, whatever works right? Try it out and let me know!

It’s time for me to end this blog, I’ll be back… I don’t know when, but I will. As always…

Hello Everyone!

I did a spell that someone gave me about 6 months ago that required me to prick myself 3 times and add blood to an elixir. I KNEW this was going to be the most difficult part. The spell called for a dove’s feather, you’d think that would be difficult….but not as difficult as getting blood out of my body! I’m such a wimp when it comes to this stuff. I took a knife and just started poking myself. I got some blood to come out of the palm of my hand, but not enough to drip. I even pushed real hard against the skin of my forearm. All it did was leave a small red dot behind. Did I develop some kind of super powers where my skin is impenetrable? Maybe I’m anemic and don’t have a whole lot of blood flow? I thought to myself….how in the hell do witches do this?! I didn’t want to risk hurting myself badly so, I figured I would look it up…

blood dropletMy first stop was to see if there were any videos on Youtube, a modern day witches tutorial… I couldn’t find any. I think too many of us are old school. Then I came across a diabetic, and BINGO. I should have realized this before. They need to prick themselves daily to test their blood. They have a handy tool to do this, so we would need a needle or something just as sharp. I learned to not poke the tip of your finger, or the pad like you see on TV. I’m lookin’ at you Charmed! The trick is to prick your finger on the side of the tip, just to the right or left of your nail. Once you break the skin, you need to apply pressure to the base of your finger and push upward. This should give you plenty of blood drops.

Why did I need this you ask? What exactly is blood binding? This type of magick has been used by traditional witches for centuries. Blood is your life’s essence, the ultimate personal effect. Adding your blood to certain spells will bind you directly to the spell itself. There is one small caveat, you will ultimately bind yourself to the spell for as long as the spell is active. If you use this for the wrong types of spells, or mess up on a spell, you will be bound to it. Example? Casting a love spell and using incorrect ingredients, attracting someone you do not want. You will be bound to this person until you break the spell…but that is easier said than done. Breaking a love spell is difficult enough without the use of blood binding. Do your research, trust your instincts and please, do not cast love spells without the proper knowledge or intent.

The use of blood binding is taboo in some covens, mostly due to the dangers I just mentioned. All magick is dangerous, it is purely about intent and power. How much power you need, and if your intent is pure. I would and have only used blood in specific situations, and with the spell I did tonight, my body is still tingling. You can use blood binding to bind your essence to items like protection amulets or charms, this will bind the charm directly to you and can easier grant yourself protection, however, lets say you lose that charm or give it to someone else, you will be bound to whomever has the charm or amulet. Therein lies the danger of blood binding. I know I’ve said this a bunch, but use caution!

So again, I do not recommend using blood binding unless your spell completely requires it.

–ANOTHER WARNING–

In this day and age, there are a lot of blood diseases, the most obvious is HIV. Make sure that if you are using/ingesting blood, that it is your own. Following what I said above should protect you magickally, but following what I’m saying now should protect you medically.

I will not be giving any spells that involve blood magick, as I do not know your experience or intent, I just would not want to risk it. I apologize. I may come up with one to charge a protection amulet. I will have to decide later, but I will be updating my blog with more spells very soon, thank you for reading! Make sure to comment so I can know your thoughts on this blog and blood binding in general.

The Witch Itch – And Magicks of Old

Why hello fellow readers!

I’m not getting a lot of readers to my blog, which is ok of course, but I figure if I just keep on truckin’ that I will eventually get some fans…hopefully anyway. So I’m going to write a random blog, under the random category. For pure entertainment value if nothing else. Those of you who do read my blog, I thank you! Please enjoy!

So the topic of this blog is The Witch Itch. Any witches out there probably know what i’m talking about before I even explain it in this blog. The itch is that feeling you get inside when you haven’t done magick in a while. The time when your energy gets built up with no release. I do suggest trying to release it in some way, a simple blessing, divination..anything. Magick that gets pent up can come out in odd powerful spurts…I honestly didn’t mean for that curse to be so strong, or maybe I did…anyway. Normally this forming energy would be used for a powerful ritual from the old ways. Practitioners would spend weeks or months summoning the energy needed to evoke the divine. To be the keeper of such power, such control would be a monumental feat, something I could only imagine.

I often wonder what it was like for the witches of times lost. I was speaking with a friend and we both came up with the same conclusion about magick and the old ways. Something happened in the past that isn’t on record. Real magick escaped the world some how. I personally feel there is this block that we witches cannot tap into. In today’s modern world, magick doesn’t serve a need as it once did, so that block has never been broken. We can do simple spells, enchantments, magick that makes sense, but true power lies beyond the veil of this plane. A place I have only seen while asleep.

I often dream of what I perceive the old days to be. Once I was fighting a fire demon. This bright red being flying in the air, there was nothing around me but a darkened dirty field. I had two people with me I was trying to protect. Bright yellow balls of light would fly out of my hands as I screamed the spell in a language unknown. I would not let the demon take those from whom I protected. I knew I was running out of energy, with every spell i cast, my power grew weaker against the demon. Unfortunately the dream faded after my power had run out. I do not know what happened next. These dreams are uncommon, but they still happen. Is it just my avid imagination, or is it a glimpse of the past? Who knows honestly.

I wake up trying to remember the spells I spoke in the dream, but for some reason, they instantly escape me. I can remember casting them, but never the words. Magick, like any other gift should be used properly. If every time I got the itch, I cast…well then I’d be in a big ol’ mess. People would have curses on them, I would have crazy lovers coming after my heart (well if one of my love spells ever worked). I bet I’d even call a storm on accident…again.

As I write this blog, I currently have The Witch Itch and I’m not entirely sure what I want to do about it. There are a few friends of mine who need protection spells, but they are both so busy, It’s difficult to get in touch. There are people out there who abuse power and it is very unfortunate. Both of my friends have come in contact with “witches” who contact the other side. It is from my understanding that once you open that gate from the other world, anything can come through and attach itself to you, so only those strong enough and protected enough can achieve the connection correctly. Does anyone know about summoning spirits? I would love to be educated. My next blog will probably be on banishing a spirit, I believe I have a Latin banishing spell. I also have discovered a banish for people in Latin that can be also spun into magick. I might even write it after this blog. Stay tuned my gentle readers.
